Canberra Newborn Baby Photographer ::
The ideal time for newborn portraits are between 7 – 10 days. These early days are such a fleeting time in your babes life. The aim of my Newborn photography is to capture all facets of their ‘newness’. In the first few weeks of your newborn babies life, things can get so busy that you barely get a chance to really absorb each tiny soft feature. I want you to be able to look back on the images i have taken and remember just how amazing and new your child was.
In my newborn gallery all babies’ featured are under two weeks of age. Within the first seven days they are still lovely and sleepy and easy to curl up. Please be sure to call me as early as possible in your pregnancy so I can pencil in your due date!
If we miss the window of time in the first two weeks, I am still happy to photograph your babe. I approach these sessions a little differently. I don’t have any prior expectations and simply photograph babe just as they are. Parent connection photos are also beautiful for any age babe.
Newborn sessions take place in my home studio. I ask that before your appointment you have baby wrapped in a blanket and nappy only, nice and loose so that no marks appear on babies skin. This generally makes newborn sessions smoother as we can bring babe straight from the car to the beanbag sleepy and ready for photos. Undressing babe once in studio generally wakes them up- delaying the start of the session. I schedule a few hours in for a newborn session, and encourage you to feed babe as required. It is helpful to bring your baby with a nice and full tummy ready to sleep.
I have photographed over 100 newborn babies and have extensive experience in handling and settling these tiny beings. Once babe has a full belly, I will settle babe whilst discussing session plans. I often find new parents enjoy this time to relax and just take in their newborn from the comfort of the couch.
I prefer to photograph newborns in their beautiful bare skin therefore I am frequently wee’d and pooped on. This is OKAY! It is normal that I will have a load of washing to do after your session and this is to be expected from a happy and healthy newborn babe!
